Are you wondering how to pay for home care? HomeCourt Home Care accepts Medicaid WAIVER, Long Term Care Insurance, VA benefits, and Private Pay. We will post a series of articles on what each program is and how to qualify for it. Today we will start with Medicaid Waiver.
What is Medicaid Waiver?
"For persons with limited financial resources, Medicaid pays for nursing home care. For those who wish to live at home or in assisted living, sometimes Medicaid will pay for care in those locations if it can be obtained at a lower cost than in a nursing home. It does this through Medicaid Waivers which are also called Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waivers or Waiver Funded Services."
Who qualifies for this program?
Applicants must meet 5 main criteria for qualification for this program. Some of the eligibility guidelines are residency, place of residence, functionality, monthly income, and countable assets. There are also options for those whose income or assets exceed these limits. Professional Medicaid planners can help applicants plan and arrange their assets so they can qualify.
